Prof. Pengxu Qian got his bachelor degree in 2006, and his Ph.D degree in 2012 from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). During his postdoctoral training in Prof. Linheng Li’s lab at Stowers Institute for Medical Research from 2012 to 2017, Dr. Qian was funded by the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Scholar Award. In Nov 2017, Dr. Qian started his lab as principal investigator in School of Medicine Zhejiang University, to study the roles and regulatory mechanisms of therapeutic hematopoietic stem cells including hematopoietic stem cells and CAR-T cells. He has undertaken projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Plan, and has been selected into the National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars and Distinguished Young Scholars in Zhejiang Province.

In the past five years, Prof. Qian’s team and collaborators have elucidated the ex vivo expansion of human circulating HSCs in 3D culture system (Protein Cell, 2022), exemplified the differential regulatory mechanisms underlying CAT-T cell exhaustion (Leukemia, 2022; Adv Sci, 2022; J Hematol Oncol, 2021), illustrated the roles and mechanisms of m6A reader YTHDF2 in HSC expansion (Cell Research, 2018), and demonstrated the critical roles of a differentially methylated region (DMR) DERARE in normal hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis (Cell Stem Cell, 2018).
